Principles

Children first

I believe that every child is a priceless individual, that no child is of lesser or greater value than another. In approaching decisions, I would consider “Where is the greatest need?” and “What is best for our children?”

Strong Schools, strong communities

I believe that our district schools play a vital role in our communities. We all share the responsibility to fund and maintain excellent schools for our future citizens. Continuous improvement should always be our goal.

Parents' central Role

I believe that parents have the lead role in rearing their children, that they have the right to pursue an excellent education for each child, whether that be in a district, charter, private, or home school.

Local Control

I believe in local control and involvement in our public schools. Our schools and the Board must maintain channels for open, two-way communication --- and I must be a good listener!

Support for Teachers

I believe that quality teachers are the most valuable resource we have. They should be supported in the classroom, included in decisions, able to grow professionally, and fairly compensated.
